Don’t let Ohio winter weather affect your furnace performance.
Winter in Grove City, Ohio, can be miserable. Harsh winter weather, like snow and below-freezing temperatures, can affect your furnace’s performance. The worst part is that furnace issues often occur on the coldest days of the year. This is because your heating system works harder to warm your home in colder weather, causing the furnace’s run cycle to extend. However, your furnace should not run more frequently. The last thing you need is the furnace breaking down during winter, potentially leading to significant problems like frozen pipes.

Grove City, Ohio’s Heating & Cooling Experts
Grove City is a city in Franklin County, Ohio, with a population of 41,252, according to the 2020 Census.
Until the mid-19th century, the area that is now Grove City was a wilderness filled with oak, beech, maple, walnut, dogwood, and other trees. The area’s first European settler, Hugh Grant, operated a gristmill in Pittsburgh and transported excess goods down the Ohio River for sale, returning to Pittsburgh on foot. On one of these trips, he passed through the Scioto Valley region and, in 1803, purchased the land that would become Grove City and returned with his wife Catharine to start a new life.
Grove City’s official founder, William F. Breck, bought 15.25 acres of the farm owned by Hugh Grant, Jr., son of the first settler in Jackson Township, then added 300 more acres intended for farming. Breck’s original plan changed when he realized the potential for growth since Harrisburg Turnpike passed through the area to the state capital, Columbus. Breck envisioned a new village complete with a school, church, stores, blacksmiths, and carpenter shops. Breck formed a commission with George Weygandt, William Sibray, and Jeremiah Smith and platted the village on the east side of Broadway in 1852.
Grove City was incorporated in 1866. The following are the zip codes within Grove City: 43123.
Among the most popular points of interest in Grove City are Grove City Town Center, a vibrant downtown area with a variety of shops, restaurants, and events throughout the year; Fryer Park, a 110-acre park with a playground, walking trails, picnic areas, and a splash pad; and Grove City Welcome Center and Museum, a fascinating venue that showcases the history of Grove City and the surrounding area.

If you opt to replace your furnace with a new system, there are many popular brands on the market built for efficiency, including Goodman, Amana, Daiken, Bryant, Rheem, Ruud, American Standard, Trane, Carrier, and Lennox. All have excellent online ratings, and knowledgeable technicians at Patriot Air can service all.
My furnace has a strange smell
During the warmer months when your furnace is dormant, dust can build up on the filters and internal parts. Once the furnace is heated, dust in the system can burn off, creating odors. Dirty filters can also cost you more in home heating because your furnace must work harder.
Your system’s burning metal or plastic smell could indicate more serious problems requiring immediate attention. Arrange a service call with a furnace repair technician to diagnose the problem immediately.
What should I do if my furnace is constantly running?
If your furnace is constantly running, there is likely a problem with your thermostat that could cause premature wear and tear to your furnace. And a continually running furnace will most certainly increase your energy bills.
How long does a furnace repair take?
Often, we can service your heating equipment the same day with parts on hand, depending on your problem.
I have a furnace repair emergency. What should I do?
Call us at (614) 953-5208 in an emergency. We have 24/7 emergency furnace repair technicians standing by. We can help get your heat back up and running in no time.
How much does a furnace repair cost?
A typical house call for a furnace repair is under $100 in central Ohio. Pricing is based on the type of repair that your furnace needs.
My furnace is making a ticking sound; what should I do?
If your furnace is making strange noises, it could indicate the presence of broken or loose parts within the furnace. It’s time to place a call for furnace repair service.
How long does a furnace typically last before it needs to be replaced?
Your furnace can last up to 30 years with proper maintenance and tune-up programs. Repair and maintain your furnace throughout the year to preserve maximum life. One of the best ways to achieve this is with regular maintenance performed by Patriot Air as part of an annual maintenance plan.
My furnace isn’t working; what should I do?
There could be many reasons why your furnace has stopped working. Sometimes it’s as simple as the thermostat not being switched to the “heat” setting. It could also be that the furnace’s “on” switch is not, in fact, turned on. Or, there could be a similar situation within your electrical box with a fuse or circuit breaker.
These can be easy fixes, but there may be more serious reasons, like your heat exchanger or blower motor being damaged, for why your furnace isn’t working that require the attention of a trained professional. Don’t wait until you’re in a snowstorm to assess your heating system. Patriot Air Comfort Systems offers a full range of brands and models of newer furnaces to ensure the best in energy efficiency, price, and performance.
